Reliance Communications a major or biggest CDMA Mobile player in India wish to switch over to GSM Mobile which is already almost saturated by existing 4-5 GSM players in each circle. Reliance GSM service is already operational in Grade 'C' 9 circles in Eastern States in India for more than 10 years. It may be noted that Reliance Communications (RCOM) was earlier known as Reliance Infocomm and was pioneered / promoted by the elder brother Mr. Mukesh Ambani but he got license only for Basic Telephony based on 'Wireless in Local Loop (WILL)' and chosen CDMA as appropriate for WILL Basic Telephony Service. The cellular GSM service of Reliance Group was operational in 9 'C' catagory circles and was pioneerd by the younger brother of Ambani family Mr. Anil Ambani. Since after the family dispute the Reliance Group demerged and total Telecom Business of Reliance group came under the younger brother Mr. Anil Ambani, who has his inclination towards GSM as per his old experiance.

There’s a possibility of two three more to enter Pan India fray through 3G route. But well known facts are of imperfect competition as it exists in telecom market, which has established that generally beyond 4 – 5 players profitability reduces drastically. Indian cellular market with a dozen players in each circle will witness fight to finish.
