Council Member Biography

Prakash Gupta is a Principal Consultant at PG Schaum. Mr. Gupta heads the advisory group which advises clients in fixed income and capital markets. He consults with major investment banks and hedge funds in the areas of credit portfolio management, alternative investments, securitization, fixed income derivatives, CDS, indexes, GIC, and distressed and default security workouts. Mr. Gupta also provides expert opinions on structured product and derivative product litigations. He was previously a Vice President and Credit Portfolio Manager at Mizuho Corp Bank, managing a $50B portfolio of loans, structured finance assets and CDS. Prior to that, Mr. Gupta was a Vice President of CDO and Structured Credit Group at Bank of New York Mellon, a Middle-Market Investment Bank. He is experienced in developing rating criteria, legal practices, and quantitative models. Mr. Gupta was also an Associate Director, Credit and Structured Products at Fitch Ratings. Leveraged loan will cause more losses in case CLO market seizes further. Banks as CDS counterparty will have to recognize losses when swap writer face default. Funding for loans will be much more scarce.
