Peter Shaerf is a Managing Director at AMA Capital Partners, a merchant banking and private equity firm in the U.S. exclusively focused on the maritime industry. He has almost 35 years of experience in the industry as first a shipbroker, then an investment banker. Mr. Shaerf has extensive experience in vessel valuations and has performed such work for financial institutions and government clients. Prior to joining AMA, he co-founded Poseidon Capital, a specialist maritime boutique. Mr. Shaerf is on Board of Director at General Maritime, Seaspan Corporation, and TBS International. He has also served on the board of The Containerization and Inter-modal Institute, and for four years as a Vice Chairman of the Short Sea Shipping Co-operative (SCOOP). Mr. Shaerf has been Chairman of NYMAR ("New York Maritime") a non-profit group formed to promote New York as a major Maritime business center, since 2007.
