Peter Rieckmann, MD

Peter Rieckmann, MD, FRCPC, is the Chair of Multiple Sclerosis Research and Director of the Multiple Sclerosis Program at University of British Columbia, Canada, and holds a position as Professor of Neurology and Research Group Leader for Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology at University of Wuerzburg, Germany. Dr. Rieckmann has expertise in the pathophysiology and treatment of neuroimmunological disorders, multiple sclerosis, and molecular and functional aspects of blood-brain barrier disturbances. He has published over 152 original articles in peer reviewed journals, 21 book chapters, two textbooks, and has presented over 200 invited lectures. Dr. Rieckmann is a member of the European Committee for Trials and Research in Multiple Sclerosis, on the medical advisory board of the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation, Vice President of the German Multiple Sclerosis Society, the steering committee of various international multiple sclerosis trials, and is Coordinator of the Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Consensus Group.
