Paul Gurbel, MD, is Director of Cardiovascular Research at the Center for Thrombosis Research at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. Dr. Gurbel has authored over 100 peer-reviewed papers related primarily to coronary thrombosis and interventional cardiology. His particular expertise is in translational platelet physiology research. As a practicing interventionalist in a large private practice, he also is Director of Therapeutics, Research and Technology Development for the Cardiac Catheterization Program at Sinai Hospital. He has served as a consultant for companies such as Genentech, Datascope, Bristol Myers Squibb, Medtronic, and Abbott. Dr. Gurbel holds patents on interventional devices and antithrombotic methods and has presented his research at the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, European Society of Cardiology, American Federation for Clinical Research, and International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis Meetings.
