Mr. Nigel Payne

Council Member Biography

Nigel Payne is an Independent Gaming Consultant since November 2006. He is also a Non- Executive Director at Sportingbet, an internet sports betting, casino and poker business since May 2000. Sportingbet is one of the world's largest internet gambling businesses with over 3 million registered customers trading into 186 countries. Previously, Mr. Payne has served as Group Chief Executive at Sportingbet from May 2000- October 2006. In this role, he steered the group through flotation and several international acquisitions. Nigel has specific experience of the US and EU markets and regulatory environment. Nigel has spoken at the US Senate and at the EU in Brussels about the merits of developing and regulating the industry. Nigel also has a detailed knowledge of the UK gaming industry, both land based and online. Previously, Nigel was Group Finance Director of Polestar Magazines, Europe's largest magazine printer.
