Michael Gazier, M.Eng.

Michael Gazier is a Senior Director in the Office of the CTO at Ciena, a company specializing in data, voice, cell/4G, video transport, and networking equipment for telecom, MSO, government, and enterprises. He works on business development, network architecture, and M&A activities. He also contributes to corporate strategies, analyzes telecom trends, and tracks relevant standards. Michael has over 22 years of experience in network design, packet voice, video, data, fixed/mobile convergence, optoelectronic devices and robotics, and holds + has filed a few dozen patents. Previously, he was a senior manager in architecture and in advanced technologies at Nortel Networks but left at the peak of the boom to help the startup Catena evolve from a chip to a systems company, where he held managerial, architecture + business positions at Catena Networks.
