Michael Gallagher is President of the Entertainment Software Association in Washington, DC, where he serves the business and public affairs needs of the companies publishing interactive games for video game consoles, handheld devices, personal computers, and the Internet. Previously, he was a Partner and Chair of the Communications Practice at Perkins Coie. Before that, Mr. Gallagher served as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communication and Information and Director National Telecommunications and Information Administration at the U.S. Department of Commerce. In this role, he was a lead spokesperson for President George W. Bush's technology and telecommunications policies, including issues such as Spectrum, Broadband, VoIP, Internet Governance, Broadband over Powerlines and telecommunications competition, as well as VoIP, fiber deregulation, and telecommunications competition policies. He was also responsible for oversight of ICANN relationship with Dept. of Commerce and developed and delivered the Bush Administration principles for international Internet governance which frame the U.S. government's international positions on management of the domain name system, spam, spyware, and cyber-security. Prior to this, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy & Counselor to Secretary Donald L. Evans at the Dept. of Commerce; Staff Vice President State Public Policy at Verizon Wireless; and Managing Director of Government Relations at Air Touch Communications. (This is me - Update Profile)
