Michael Dobson is President of TeleMapics, LLC, a consultancy that provides advice on the uses of geographic information to technology and media based businesses focused on Geospatial Applications,Location Based Services,Local Search and Geographic Information Systems. Dr. Dobson's background includes experience as the CTO and EVP of Engineering for a high profile start-up in Location Based Services/Local Search using cellular and other wireless devices. In addition, he served as the Chief Technologist and Chief Cartographer at Rand McNally & Company, the world's largest map and geographic information publishing company, during their transition to digital information publishing and use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Previous to these positions, Dr. Dobson was an associate professor of Geography at the State University of New York at Albany where he researched and taught courses in mapping, GIS and geography.
