Marc Balmuth is an independent consultant to the retail industry. He most recently served as the CEO of Bobs Stores from 1997-1999. Prior, he was President of Caldor, a $2.8B upscale discount store based in the Northeast. He served in this capacity from 1987-1996 and led the company as a division of May Co. then in a LBO, and as a stand alone NYSE public company. He was responsible for merchandising, sales promotion, marketing, merchandise info, and stores. Prior to Caldor, he was EVP at Venture Stores, a division of May Co. from 1985-1987 and before he was SVP of Merchandising at Macy's reporting to the CEO. He was at Macy's for 12 years from 1973-1985. His reach spans the entire retail industry & his network includes all major retailers in department stores, discount stores, off- price, and mall specialty stores. He travels to meet with the CEO's & CFO's of major companies. He is an expert and is current in evaluating the management, strategies, execution, competition, challenges, threats & finance that face the retail industry. (This is me - Update Profile)
