Council Member Biography

Lyle Berkowitz, MD, FHIMSS, is an Internal Medicine Physician and a healthcare innovator who was named one of the top "20 People Who Make Healthcare Better" by HealthLeaders Magazine in 2008. He is also the Founder of the Szollosi Healthcare Innovation Program and the President of Back 9 Healthcare Consulting. In all these positions, Dr. Berkowitz focuses on using IT and innovative thinking to improve the quality and efficiency of the healthcare system. His past experience includes work as the Medical Director for two publicly traded companies and as a contributing author to the American College of Physicians' book "Electronic Medical Records". Dr. Berkowitz serves on the editorial board for Healthcare Informatics magazine, the Advisory Board of the Association of Medical Directors of Information Systems and the Board of Directors for the non-profit arm of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
