Joe Cappy was until October 2003, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group. Previously, Mr. Cappy was the President and Chief Executive Officer of American Motors. As Vice President at Chrysler, he headed up International Operations. He was also involved with the divestiture of six non-core operations, three aerospace and defense companies and three car rental companies. He was successful in selling four of the six companies. Chrysler was unable to sell Dollar and Thrifty individually, so Mr. Cappy took the two public in late 1997 as Chief Executive Officer of the new Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group. Prior, he spent the first 26 years of his career as a finance, sales and marketing executive at Ford Motor Company. Prior, He was the Chairman of The Tulsa Community Foundation (TCF), which has assets in excess of $3 Billion. Mr. Cappy is the President of Southern Hills Country Club.
