Jose Trevino is the Principal and Founder of AmeriCompass in Mexico, where he specializes in advising foreign investors establish or expand their presence in Mexico and in providing representation before government. He has expertise in various sectors including Energy (oil & gas and electric power), Environment, Infrastructure & Transportation, Telecommunications, Mining, Housing & Construction. Mr. Trevino is currently Vice-President for North America at the Mexican Council for Foreign Trade (COMCE), a leading Mexican private sector organization dedicated to promoting Mexican exports and attracting foreign investment. From 1999 to 2001, he served as the Executive Vice-President for North America of the Mexican Investment Board (MIB), a non-profit organization sponsored by the private sector and the Mexican Government to attract foreign direct investment to Mexico. During his tenure at the MIB, Mr. Trevino was instrumental in assisting several Canadian and U.S. companies identify and develop business opportunities in Mexico’s telecommunications, manufacturing, environmental, energy, and infrastructure sectors. From 1991 to 1999, he served as a diplomat in Mexico’s NAFTA Office in Washington, DC, where he participated in the NAFTA negotiations, playing an important role in lobbying the U.S. Congress, coordinating the Mexican communication campaign, and, as of 1994, leading the Office’s economic and political analysis unit on telecommunications and transportation sectors.
