Firm has expertise in filtration membranes for drinking water and wastewater, filter design, ion exchange, and other treatment technologies and corresponding IP programs. Before WSM, Mr. Fernandez was President of Pentair Water Treatment, operating in No.America, Europe, India, China. He started Pentair's water business in China and its turnaround and growth in India. Mr. Fernandez led the process for several of Pentair's acquisitions. He holds an MBA from Stanford University. He also was a Governor of the US Water Quality Association. This article points to an area of the water industry that will continue to enjoy positive dynamics. For the investor, the message is simple: companies selling water infrastructure-related products and services, like large pipes, large valves, inspection and repair services, water pipeline engineering and construction, etc., the future has a strong upside. The current housing crisis may hurt some municipalities' ability to fund some of these projects. However, in most cases, delaying them is difficult or impossible, specially when water service to customers is at stake. Further, a new Washington administration in 2009 will look at rebuilding infrastructure as a strong potential avenue to re-energize the economy and create jobs.

Economic prosperity brings with it severe deterioration of water availability and quality all over the world. Membrane filtration is a proven method to successfully and efficiently improve water quality and companies operating in this space can be expected to meet or exceed the water industry growth rate.
