Council Member Biography

Joel N. Bock is a Partner in the New Jersey office of Sonnenschein. Mr. Bock counsels companies regarding a wide range of intellectual property issues and structuring and negotiating transactions involving IP assets, including mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, private placements, licensing and strategic alliances. He has substantial experience with IP asset assessment and valuation, including risk analysis, portfolio analysis and patent opinion work, planning and executing trade secret protection, portfolio development, management and growth strategies. Mr. Bock has litigated complex patent infringement suits relating to such technologies as pharmaceuticals, automotive sensors, plastic extrusion, fuel injection systems, electronic circuit designs and machine tools systems. He represents clients with respect to IP enforcement and defense of trademarks, trade secrets and copyrights. Mr. Bock is a member of the Patent Bar and has successfully prosecuted patent applications in a variety of fields, including telecommunications, automotive systems, electronics, software and systems, financial products, business methods, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, packaging, optics, holography, and mechanical devices.
