Jerrold Levy, MD, is the Director of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at Emory Healthcare and a Professor of Anesthesiology at Emory University School of Medicine in Georgia. He is also an Attending physician in the Cardiothoracic/Vascular Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Levy's clinical and research interests include hemostasis, cardiovascular pharmacology, acute inflammation, and vascular pharmacology. He has been active in developing blood substitutes, transfusion alternatives, and therapeutic approaches for acute inflammation, bleeding, and anticoagulation. One of Dr. Levy's research efforts are the application of biotechnology and recombinant agents in clinical medicine. His clinical practice involves managing critically ill patients in the operating room and intensive care unit. Dr Levy has also been active in studying drugs used to treat heart failure, ventricular dysfunction, hypertensive emergencies, ischemia, respiratory failure, and shock in critically ill patients.
