Council Member Biography

Ian Mecklenburgh is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Infotainment, a media consultancy. He is also a Consultant at IP Vision (UK). Mr. Mecklenburgh is currently focused on hybrid IPTV/VOD services and previously in UK's digital switchover, focusing on satellite and the Switchover Help Scheme. As the Director of Emerging Technology and Strategy at BBC Ventures, he has provided a commercial link to the development functions of the BBC and industry partnerships; Principal at new media consultancy, iXL; and Head of New Media at Cable and Wireless plc, where Mr. Mecklenburgh developed businesses in internet, broadband, IPTV, mobile and interactive services in Hong Kong, Australia, Caribbean, and the UK. He is experienced in developing and delivering new businesses and services in media, communications and new media since the early 1990's. Mr. Mecklenburgh has expertise in media, technology and communications solutions and was responsible for the delivery of commercial internet, Video On Demand, interactive television and broadband services in the UK and overseas.
