Hugo Oppelaar is a Partner and Advocate in the Banking, Finance and Restructuring practise group at Houthoff Buruma in Amsterdam. He assists in matters relating to the Dutch financial regulators (the Authority for the Financial Markets and the Dutch Central Bank) and is often engaged in relation to discretionary asset management and collective investment schemes. Prior to this, Mr. Oppelaar served as Assistant Director in the Dutch Ministry of Finance. His main area of expertise is financial regulation and asset management. His clients include leading banks, broker/dealers, asset managers, pension funds, insurers as well as listed and unlisted corporations that offer securities to the public. He advises on compliance with the regulations on capital market transactions, public takeover bids, publicly traded companies, financial institutions and the pension sector.
