Harlan Amstutz, MD, is the founding director of the Joint Replacement Institute, Professor Emeritus and former Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California at Los Angeles. Dr. Amstutz is recognized worldwide as a preeminent orthopaedic surgeon and researcher in the field of joint replacement. He has authored countless articles, abstracts and book chapters. He also holds numerous patents for joint implant designs and is highly sought as a lecturer to audiences worldwide. He is the innovator and developer of the Conserve® Hemisurface and Conserve® Plus hip surface arthroplasty utilizing metal-metal bearing technology. Dr. Amstutz is the recipient of seven national awards for excellence in basic research in hip and knee biomechanics, biomaterials and innovations in joint replacement. He is also the editor of Hip Arthroplasty, a widely acclaimed reference book on the subject of hip replacement and reconstruction. (This is me - Update Profile)
