Gunter Schoech is the Founder and Managing Director of Debrouillage, a management consultancy specializing in power generation, transmission and distribution, automation, industrial infrastructure, transportation, automotive and medical sectors, analyzing the competitive landscape. Prior, Mr. Schoech was project manager at Siemens Management Consulting, the in-house management consulting service at Siemens. He was responsible for managing global consulting projects in automotive, industrial solutions and services, power generation, and automation and control segments at Siemens. Mr. Schoech has experience in developing strategies for factory and process automation, telematics in public transportation, fleet management, passenger car navigation (embedded, handheld, and cell phone based), RFID. He holds an MS in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA. Prior, Mr. Schoech worked at Renault, France and at Ford Motor Company, Detroit. He is fluent in German, English, French and Spanish. What is being described about EDF in France is equally true for the 4 large German Utilities E.ON, RWE, Vattenfall and EnBW. Banks have increased the equity criterion to 30%, up from 15% historically, and demand additional insurances. The ensuing fiancing problems of smaller developers now allows the utilities to catch up in the alternative energies, which they had neglected previously. They can acquire locations, equipment and know how at low prices, while relying on their strong cash flow from operations.

Siemens intends to become "a pioneer in diversity". While this is very important, Siemens to this day remains a very German and very centralized company. Competitors such as ABB are many years ahead in this respect as can be seen in various dimensions such as board structure, regional management or repartition of headquarter functions.
