Goran Olivecrona, MD, PhD, is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Cardiology at Lund University Hospital, Sweden. He has expertise in interventional cardiology, in particular treatment of acute coronary syndromes and cardiogenic shock with PCI as well as extensive experience in treating CTO's. He also implants percutaneous Aortic valves from both the apical and the femoral approach. Dr. Olivecrona' clinical research interest concerns cardiogenic shock, acute coronary syndromes, and therapeutic hypothermia both following cardiac arrest and in the course of myocardial infarction. He also has experience using novel chest compression devices during Cardiac arrest during PCI. Dr. Olivecrona' basic science research is in the mechanisms governing coronary circulation and reperfusion injury in myocardial infarction. He is the Principal Investigator in Sweden for several multi-center trials in interventional cardiology, including several trials with drug eluting stents. (This is me - Update Profile)

Are all statins equal ?

Retrospective studies should be viewed with caution. Most retrospective studies which may contain a bias in the prescribed treatment should be anlysed with matched propencity score. To confirm the results a randomized trial would essentially be needed.
