George Beatty, MD, MPH

George Beatty, MD, MPH, is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California San Francisco, since July 2008. He served as Director of the UCSF's HIV Clinical Trials in the Positive Health Program at San Francisco General Hospital from 2001 to 2007. Dr. Beatty has 13 years of experience in the management of HIV infection and in particular, management of patients with multi-drug resistant HIV and who are co-infected with viral hepatitis. He also serves as a consultant to the California Department of Corrections, and to various antiretroviral treatment programs in developing countries, advising programs on HIV treatment policy and algorithms. Dr. Beatty has served as a principal investigator for a number of clinical trials of novel antiretroviral agents and treatments for Hepatitis C infection for companies such as Merck, Roche, GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, Tibotec, Vical, Serono, Boehringer-Ingelheim, Bristol Myers Squibb, Gilead, and Panacos Pharmaceuticals.
