Dirk Stammnitz was promoted to General Manager of CH Robinson Worldwide from his previous role as Director of Sales N.A. He has over 20 years of experience in providing logistics services, business development, and account management within the transportation industry. He has extensive experience with air and ocean carrier relationships and negotiation, market dynamics relating to demand and capacity, domestic trucking, and intermodal (rail) operations. Mr. Stammnitz provides consultancy to clients on their global supply chains, 3PL outsourcing, distribution and warehousing, procurement and sourcing decisions, consolidation, modal conversion, network optimization, risk management, and customs compliance. He also advises clients on IT solutions to more effectively run their business through improved metrics. Prior, Mr. Stammnitz was a Global Account Manager at Expeditors International of Washington. As US importers and manufacturers reexamine their outsourcing strategies in China and Southeast Asia they must consider closely the ever-changing landscape related to international shipping prior to taking any significant action. Obviously product characteristics, raw material requirements, manufacturing processes, and end user markets will play a vital role in any sourcing strategies. However, with increases in transportation primarily in fuel surcharges and increasing labor costs in China this discussion has taken on a new priority.
