Derek Ochiai, MD

Derek Ochiai, MD, is an Orthopedic Surgeon and Attending Physician at the Nirschl Orthopedic Group in Northern Virginia. He is Associate Director of the Nirschl Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Ochiai also has experience in fracture care, total joint replacement, pediatrics and spine, and has done basic science research comparing the mechanical properties of different orthopedic products, rotator cuff tear treatment, lateral epicondylitis, and plantar fasciitis. He also performs hip arthroscopic procedures. Dr. Ochiai has published Healthy Bones, a patient's guide to living with osteoporosis, Orthopedic Pocket Dictations A-Z, and the Orthopedic Intern Pocket Survival Guide. He has given lectures on athletic injuries, treatment of arthritis, COX-2 inhibitors, antibiotic regimens for treatment of infections, and treatment of chronic pain. (This is me - Update Profile)
