David Quarmby is a Director of Transport at Colin Buchanan, a consulting firm in transport, planning and economics. Mr. Quarmby is also a Non-Executive Director at NedRailways, the UK subsidiary of the Netherland Railways. He has extensive experience of the UK rail, bus industries and government policy towards rail and bus. Mr. Quarmby was previously, a Chairman of the Strategic Rail Authority. He was a Chairman of the British Tourist Authority (1996-2003) & of the English Tourist Board (1996-1999). Mr. Quarmby was also a Chairman of the Docklands Light Railway (1999-2001) & a Board Member of Transport for London (2000-2004). He was the Main Board Director at Sainsbury's from 1984 to 1996, initially as a Logistics Director and then Joint Managing Director. Mr. Quarmby was a Director & Chairman of Sainsbury subsidiaries Homebase, Savacentre & Shaws Supermarkets in New England.
