Bret Koplow heads the FDA practice at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal and is a member of the firm’s Health Care, Life Sciences, and Public Law & Policy Strategies practice groups. He advises clients on complex food and drug law and general health care law matters in the regulatory, legislative, and public policy arenas. He represents clients before the Congress, the FDA, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the NIH, and other state and federal departments and agencies.
Dr. Koplow counsels clients on a wide range of matters related to FDA-regulated products and health care services, including: drug and device safety; medical product marketing and promotion; biosimilars/follow-on biologics; FDA approval and premarket clearance; drug pedigree; drug and device pricing, coverage, and reimbursement; pandemic preparedness and bioterrorism; clinical trial data disclosure; drug abuse and diversion; comparative effectiveness of medical products; disease prevention; federal funding opportunities and appropriations; mental health policy; and health information technology.
He is a graduate, with honors, from the University of Chicago Law School. Prior to his legal career, he was a practicing clinical psychologist, serving as Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Koplow is frequent speaker at national conferences on FDA and health care issues, and he is regularly quoted in leading trade publications.
