Barry Massie, MD, is the Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco and Chief of Cardiology at San Francisco VAMC. Dr. Massie is an expert in heart failure, hypertension, and cardiovascular therapeutics. He has authored over 250 original articles and numerous invited articles and book chapters. Dr. Massie consults frequently on issues of drug development, trial design, preparation for FDA presentations, and related issues. He currently serves as PI, Co-PI, Executive Committee/Steering Committee or DSMB for 10-15 ongoing trials. Dr. Massie has served on the FDA Cardio-Renal Advisory Panel for five years and was Chair for one year. He continues to serve as an ad hoc FDA consultant for CV drugs and devices. Dr. Massie frequently participates in NIH workshops and panels. He is active in the Heart Failure Society, having served as Program Chair, Editor in Chief of its Scientific Journal (Journal of Cardiac Failure) from 2001 to present, and is currently its Vice President and President Elect.
