Mr. Arthur Fischer

Council Member Biography

Arthur Fischer was until 2005 the President and Chief Executive Officer of Dow AgroSciences. Mr. Fischer was also a member of Executive Management Team at The Dow Chemical Company until his retirement in 2004. He has spent 37 years with The Dow Chemical Company, served the agriculture industry as President of CropLife International and CropLife America, was Chairman of National FFA Foundation, and was named Agribusiness Leader of the Year in 2002 by the National Agri-Marketing Association.

Mr. Fisher joined The Dow Chemical Company as an agricultural chemical field sales representative in 1967 and was appointed as Dow Brazil Vice President and General Manager of Dow's Brazil Agricultural Chemicals business in 1984. He was elected to a similar position in Dow Europe in 1987, with responsibilities for Europe, the Confederation of Independent States, the Middle East and Africa. In July 1992, Mr. Fisher was named Vice President of North America. He also served in a leadership role for the Central Indiana Life Sciences Initiative, and is a former board member of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO). (This is me - Update Profile)
