Art Gillis is the President of Computer Based Solutions, a Texas-based independent bank technology consulting firm tracking trends in the bank tech industry. Mr. Gillis has been working in the computer industry since 1957, upon graduation as an EDP Officer at SAC Headquarters, as a Systems Manager at Honeywell EDP, as a Project Manager at Booz Allen & Hamilton and as a Senior Vice President of Fleet Bank which was acquired by Bank of America. He established his consulting practice in 1974, and to date, has conducted over 300 computer-related client projects for financial institutions in the U.S., Canada, Central America, Europe and the Middle East including the three largest banks in the U.S. as well as a number of community banks and a few de novos.
Mr. Gillis is listed by the American Banker as one of the top 25 computer consultants. Mr. Gillis has written 49 books and business reports, all relating to technology in banking. He has published Automation in Banking for the past 21 years. His specific areas of expertise include: Systems and Operations Effectiveness Audits, System Requirements Analysis, Evaluation of Outsourcing as a Mode of Information Systems Support, Security Risk Assessment, and Evaluation of Bank Software Packages. Mr. Gillis has been a Certified Management Consultant since 1979.
