Council Member Biography
Andrew Scrymgeour is Vice President of International for Norwest Corporation, which provides consulting and engineering services in the energy, minerals and natural resources sectors. Mr. Scrymgeour's mining career dates to 1960. Since then he has been involved in all aspects of the mining industry including engineering, operations and management of both surface and underground mining of coal, industrial minerals and precious metals. He has been with Norwest since 1991, where he has been responsible for managing projects in North America and overseas. Some examples of assignments include: Mining feasibility study for an underground mine to be developed from existing surface mine; Audit of environmental pass-through costs from coal producer to electric utility; Due diligence on coal mining companies in USA; Preparation of bankable feasibility studies for mining projects in Indonesia; Due diligence on coal suppliers in Indonesia; as well as efficiency studies on a large capacity dragline coal mines.
