Mr. Alfred Michon

Council Member Biography

Alfred (Ted) Michon is an independent transportation consultant specializing in railroads. He is currently a senior consultant to Cape Cod Central and MassCoastal Railroads. Prior, Mr. Michon was the President of Colorado & Southern, Fort Worth & Denver, and Bangor & Aroostook. He has played an active role throughout his career in leading railroad merger and acquisition activity both as a corporate executive and as a consultant. Mr. Michon has held senior marketing and strategic planning positions with two of the largest Class I carriers - Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Railroads. He managed the BN's Energy Department during the build up of the Powder River Basin coal boom. Mr. Michon developed a pricing policy for this billion dollar market which maximized return on capital and market share. At BN, he also managed their international business and pioneered in the development of a robust trade in Forest Products with the PRC. Mr. Michon is among the world's foremost advisors on reforming the state-owned railway enterprises of Eastern Europe and the republics of the former Soviet Union. His services as Advisor have yielded significant results in the reform and privatization of the Polish State Railways. (This is me - Update Profile)
