Cisco’s Sales Will Drop as Much as 17%, Chambers Says | www.bloomberg.com

Cisco's strengths and challenges for their first fiscal quarter and beyond can be further defined when we compare them to their competition.  Juniper, HP ProCurve, Avaya, Brocade (Foundry), Nortel, 3COM are vendors that can help us define and understand Cisco. Cisco's success may very well be due to the weakness of their competition versus the strengths of Cisco.  In addition, with $30 plus billion of cash they are better positioned than most.

CA CTO To Exit Company | newsletter.crn.com

Barrenechea’s departure not long after an outline of what he will focus on has and will upset but not spill CA’s cart of apples. His focus was on implementing their product strategy. The challenge was to succeed with their diverse present suite of products coupled with those from the Concord Communications, Netegrity and Niku buys. Depending on the vertical, client demand for sewing together the swatches of products in the enterprise space is good to excellent and CA has a great opportunity.  It’s better than dragging out the inevitable.
