Indian drugmakers facing takeover threat: Govt panel | www.business-standard.com

Indian Pharma players have created their niche so far on Copy cat drugs, and have mastered this art with backward & forward integration of business. Going by the global trend to cut health care costs, increase in drug development cost, increase in time of lab - market and increased regulatory hurdles in every country the choices are limited for Big Pharma!!! Big pharma's have spotted a opportunity here!!! Acquiring an Integrated Indian Pharmaceutical manufacturer with API & Formulation capability gives them the most desperately needed solution i.e. Low cost manufacturing!!! Indian companies on their part can make the most of this sudden showering of attention by MNC's by diluting stake and cashing in on the hard work done so far. This will be Win Win for both - The buyers gets access to much need frugal manufacturing facilities. The Seller gets rewarded for his hard work and gets access to the R & D facilities of the Buyer. Ultimately bringing down the cost of health care.
