The cost per quality adjusted life year (QALY) gained of these treatments is between $57,000 and $180,000 per patient - based on drugmaker data - but at $142,000 to $340,000 per patient, according to NICE’s independent data. 3.  So who will bear such cost?  is open question to whole world

AstraZeneca and Bristol-Myers Squibb Submit New Drug Application in the United States and Marketing Authorisation Application in Europe for ONGLYZA™ (Saxagliptin) for the Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes | www.astrazeneca.com

Saxagliptin is being studied in clinical trials as a once-daily therapy to determine its efficacy and safety. Saxagliptin was specifically designed to be a selective, reversible inhibitor of the DPP-4 enzyme, with dual routes of clearance. Phase III data for saxagliptin have previously been presented in combination with metformin, the most commonly prescribed oral anti-diabetic, as well as when used as monotherapy in treatment-naïve individuals. Additional Phase III data for saxagliptin, including when added to a sulfonylurea, a thiazolidinedione and as initial combination therapy with metformin, are planned for disclosure later this year.

1.PrEP involves a prescription drug, so it’s likely that initial programs will be clinic-based. PrEP delivery would also require periodic HIV testing. 2. In contrast to male circumcision—or hopefully one day, a vaccine—PrEP would require that people take a drug on an ongoing basis (daily or intermittently). 3. Interest in PrEP could bring more individuals into the health clinic, where they would have access to HIV testing and other services, regardless of whether they chose to use PrEP. 4. It will affect immune system in long run basis.
