Apple iPhone could become a worthy competitor to Blackberry
December 10, 2007
Apple iPhone Winning Corporate Fans Despite Flaws | www.eweek.com
All said and done, the Apple iPhone could become a worthy competitor to Blackberry, which seems to have taken the enterprise market by storm. The iPhone is far behind now but they have made a good beginning and form the first six months or so in the market, it seems that the iPhone will get better. Would it make sense for Apple and RIMM to create an alliance?

Verizon's Open Move Hastens Wireless Market Transformation | www.informationweek.com
The US has been a leader in technological advancements but has lagged behind the world when it came to implementing open systems networks. Verizon has taken a bold step in announcing that they will throw open their network for third party service providers who will then be free to deploy their own products to customers. For companies to stay and grow, opening their networks will do more good than harm.

Google Will Bid in FCC Spectrum Auction | online.wsj.com
Have we forgotten what people said when Google was planning to buy Youtube. Noone believed that they could profit from that acquisition but today Google has shown that they can make it work. Google went ahead and purchased YouTune inspite of major issues like Copyright infringement lawsuits but today have introduced various checks and balances that will keep legal hassles away. Their entry into wireless is in many ways similar.
Apple's "bricking the iPhone" does seem extreme but this will be forgotten and dismissed

Apple's War on Customers | www.technewsworld.com
Apple and Steve Jobs have always done things differently and succeeded. Bricking the iPhone does seem extreme but will not hurt Apple.
Nokia's offering is unique but may not be enough to topple Apple/iTunes
December 5, 2007
Nokia to Offer Unlimited Universal Music | www.redherring.com
Since the advent of the Apple IPod, the world of music has changed dramatically and Apple has take market share and today has virtually no competition. Nokia’s bold move in the cell phone music market will definitely rock the market but may not be enough to bring Apple down. I would not go so far to say that this would be the end for pay services but they will give Apple a run for their money.
Bill and his fund will bounce back for sure
December 5, 2007
Bill Millers New Streak | biz.yahoo.com
Who has not heard of Bill Miller and his outstanding performance. Now as we all know past performance is no indications of the future. Bill has shown that he can consistently beat the market over long periods of time but one cannot expect that to continue unabated. I think Bill will come unscathed over the next 2-3 years.

Solid-state drives aim at HDDs' heart | www.eetimes.com
Micron, Samsung and Sandisk are the companies in the forefront of SSD technology and they stand to benefit big-time over the years to come.
The DRAM market is at its bottom now and is poised to recover over the next 8-12 months
December 3, 2007
Samsung Electronics sees DRAM recovery, strong phone sales | www.eetimes.com
It is so very difficult to predict what’s happening with the DRAM market. Memory in general over the last few years have seen their ups and downs, more downs than up, I would say. I would agree with the fact that the DRAM market downturn is at the end of the cycle and we should see DRAM prices move upwards.
Micron entry into SSD's is late but looks promising
December 3, 2007
Micron marks entry into SSD Market with 3 form factors | www.edn.com
Micron is late in entering this market and companies like Sandisk and Samsung already control the lion’s share of the market. Micron’s products do have some benefits or at least per their claim , i.e of low power consumption and increased reliability. This will eventually benefit the consumer as prices will fall in-lieu of the increased competition.
Verizon's Voyager is not a threat to either the iPhone or the Blackberry
December 3, 2007
Nuplex Picks Verizon Biz | www.lightreading.com
Based on the past, I can categorically say that Voyager is not going to be a threat to the iPhone or the Blackeberry. It is good at best but nowhere near the its competition. Verizon should stick with what they know best (FIOS) to get more customers.
Greg Brown is a welcome change and maybe just what Motorola needs.
December 3, 2007
Zander Steps Aside as Motorola CEO, But Stays on As Chairman | www.crn.com
Ed Zander’s leaving Motorola may be just what the company needs. Motorola has on several times in the past come back with a vengeance and grown to new heights. Greg Brown is going to strive for just that over the years to come.
Citi will regain its pristine Glory, albeit in a few years
November 30, 2007
Citi Sells Stake to Abu Dhabi Fund | biz.yahoo.com
With Prince stepping down, Citibank should be able to regain its glory, albeit in a few years. This year has been particularily hard on Citi and rightly so. The sub-prime mess has affected everyone with the exception of GS and that too is an unknown at this point in time. This infusion of capital is very timely and Citi is poised for regrowth. One of the attractive things about Citi has been its dividend and this should continue without any issues.
