CW (Conventional Wisdom) may say margins will go down, I am not so sure.

Apple could see margins at risk with new price cuts | www.marketwatch.com
Apple negotiated better pricing for components Apple is driving productivity in supply chain. Apple overall margins will not be affected much by price reductions.
3COM Goad Cisco? No, they are just doing their own thing, which might work. But...

3Com goads Cisco with H3C push | www.channelweb.co.uk
Get over it... 2001 is a long time ago. They are hear to stay (or be bought.. IBM?). That is not the concern. Longer term, something called "Unified Data Center" is the issue here with 3COM. What does all this matter? Ask through GLG, would be happy to discuss the detail.

IBM-Brocade deal pits Big Blue against Cisco Systems | triangle.bizjournals.com
Cisco attacks ANY technology market that they think is old school, and legacy in nature. They will work hard to create disruptive technology that is a game changer for the customers. They attack conventional wisdom, and destroy traditional competitors in the new field (which they title Advanced Technology Projects/products). Cisco will enter new markets if they know that it can add at least $1,000,000 of new revenue to Cisco (plus recurring revenue growth for services as a bonus). This market is up to 100 times this number globally. Look out IBM. I think that IBM is their main target. Dell, and HP are stepping stones. I would be more than welcome to take a GLG call to back up my claims here.
TDM, verses Etthernet at the carrier level. Big deal, and Ethernet will win, period
March 2, 2009
The many flavors of carrier Ethernet | www.networkworld.com
History shows us the the enterprise drags the carriers to advance their network. History shows that TDM based technology is expensive. Customers demand Ethernet hand off with MPLS. There is no confusion for customers between Ethernet and MPLS, unless created by the throw backs who want to hold on to TDM technology. Ethernet will win, period. The focus is on that, and will be. No customer wants expensive carrier bottle necks to limit their access to fast speeds, and applicaitons.
Green as a Fad finally gets people to pay attention to workstation waste.

Data Centers Nearing Power-Usage, Cost Crisis | www.eweek.com
Green fad finally gets the lemmings to look at virtual applications. Power savings are real, no matter how you enter in the numbers. TCO costs are much lower by dumping the PC on the desk for the majority of users. Some partners have been begging to help their customers with this transition. Most have been spurned over the years. With green being a big fade, and the followers looking for some way to justify their jobs, they will finally take a serious look at this. The leaders in this industry are (or have been) moving fast to migrate their desktop information strategy. His article theme is very sound. People should listen up if they are not doing so already. This is a great opportunity for IT contribute to their companies image, and save big dollars at the same time.
Hyper leftist full of it again. His brain generates more RF within a foot of his head than Wi-Fi

NM: Wi-Fi plan opposed by 'electrically sensitive' | www.businessweek.com
This guy has a plan with thought and mailice to pass his misery onto all of us. His name says it all. He wants to build a case to make money off his scam. This is one component of his agenda (he mentions others). He is crazy leftist, who because he does not like something wants to cook up reaons to ruin it all for us. RF (radio frequency) law (calculations) cannot be argued. Wi-Fi cannot do what he says, period.
Again, the pundits do not get it. They will be on the ash heap of history.

Study: Online won’t replace traditional TV anytime soon | telephonyonline.com
This article is only important if you want to use this to rationalize putting your head in the sand. Yes, that is a aggressive statement but true. Carol's message is soothing to those in this legacy industry who want to hear what they want. They can bide time until they retire guarding a industry that will die with the current technology delivery, and business model. The article assume that the current industry will be able to control the $66 billion, and $30 billion in fees. That money will travel to the new technology and the new business models it will produce. The gatekeepers will no longer control the flow of the fees and advertising revenue, they will be bypassed. A new generation of talent is emerging delivering good content. They, produce, deliver, monetize their content for a fraction of the cost, bypassing gatekeepers. Other high end talent will follow. History is on my side. Only government intervention can save them. Check my commentary. Contact with questions.
