The Commercial Print Industry is undergoing two revolutions simultaneously; Presses are going Digital and that leads to them being able to truly personalize the printed pieces. Marketing is getting more specific and while the cost of delivering a highly customized piece to the recipient can be 50% higher, the ROI is actually greater, due to high response rates and buying rates.

The tipping point is finally nearing because there was a need for a technology build-out when Check 21 was first passed. I worked for an ISV that sold Middleware that enables Check 21 functionality and it took time to put it in place and ensure its' robustness. Going forward, it will be easier to do the types of things discussed in this article, as well provide conectivity to other networks. This will hasten the adoption.
