Creative ways to increase revenue....

Airline industry set to suffer $500m loss. | archive.gulfnews.com
Airlines have to find creative ways to increase revenue... increasing sales and cutting costs are the basics to generating more profits. In today's economy, the survival of the creative is the clear focus. Finding creative ways to generate more revenue and encourage more travelers to fly more will be necessary. The recent special program in the auto industry in the US is an example of a creative strategy that stimulated sales in a short time. Similar strategies may be followed in the airline industry -- can be done, but needs creativity!Dr. Raj SelladuraiIndiana University Business Professor
Customer Service -- Some observations.

Lending in Europe continues to shrink | www.ft.com
Customer needs may be similar across cultures but customer service is quite different between the U.S. and European cultures. Based on my recent academic related trip/visit to Europe (four countries including Austria, Germany, Hungary, and Switzerland) this U.S. professor found significant differences in customer service and customer satisfaction perspectives. Interesting enough to stimulate and explore potential research study in this area in the near future. Customer service seems to have much lower value in Europe compared to the US -- customer is king or customer is always right seems to have little value in Europe. This professor thinks that the American attitudes, perceptions, values, benefits, and significance related to customer service be given more attention by European business in order to enhance their business profits, customer loyalty, repeat sales, etc. And for us Americans, we realize how good we have it in terms of customer service here in the US only when we leave the country -- may we not take it for granted like we sometimes tend to do!Dr. Raj SelladuraiIndiana University
FDA -- Should Focus on Results/Benefits of Products to Consumers

FDA science dearth puts public health at risk | news.yahoo.com
Congress needs to ensure that FDA is more proactive rather then reactive -- proactive toward protecting consumers. Should ensure FDA looks at all products with total fairness and no bias -- results/benefits should be the primary concern based on proper scientific testing and research. If something is new or revolutionary it should still be given proper consideration if it deserves merit. -Dr. Raj Selladurai
