With this increase, the partnership between the cruise industry and the travel agency distributions channels remains steadfastly important. 3. As opposed to the Goldman Sachs call to reduce commission, it is incumbent for cruise lines to insure that the travel agency community  remains financially strong in their support of current and new ships to come.

There is a blind spot regarding traditional service in the travel industry as it regards the purchasing of high ticket vacation travel.   With the increase of air and overnight hotel purchase online, it presumes that this is the case for high ticket travel, including pure leisure and incentive travel.   In fact, this is not the scenario and in the case of the cruise industry, the justification for a stronger distribution channel is more important than ever with over 100,000 two lower beds entering the market place over the next four (4) years including a dramatic growth in the deluxe-ultra luxury segments.
