The presented bone substitute is comparable to 240 others in Germany. Only a few bone substitutes differ by bone induction like (DBM(R) Synthes) or (Grafton). Osteoconductive bone substitutes are very common. Only PerOssal(R) by aap, also osteoconductive,  is  selectively  loadable  with antibiotics  and  can be additionally used for osteomyelitis indications. There is a wide range of resorbable osteoconductive bone substitutes, which do not differ significantly in clinical usage. Influencing factors such as vital surrounding tissue, blood supply and defect size are more important than gradually changes of components such as hydroxyaptite and calcium sulphate.

the issues raised in the article regarding bacterial infection and biofilm are correct described. The use of silver in prevention of bacertial infection for medical devices are well known for catheters. The additional use of solvents to prevent adhesion of molecules or bacterial adhesion to the surface is a very good approach! Adhesion is mediated by rezeptor ligand complexes. Covering rezeptors of the devices surface or of the tissue by water molecules mediated by the solvent, would copy a natural effect of a biological molecule called MSF/SZP or lubricin for vessels or cartilage.
