Business Aviation Renaissance Will Bring Better Options at Lower Cost
May 26, 2009
When Business Aviation Rebounds | www.aviationweek.com
In spite of the drubbing that business aviation has received in the general press as a result of the auto industry CEOs jetting separately to Washington, a rebirth is coming. Private aviation already offers compelling advantages in comfort, convenience, and flexibility; but it is a very costly service. New service delivery and pricing models will be required to attract new customers needed to jumpstart growth. Since the existing charter industry is very fragmented and loosely managed, there is much room for improvement. The net result will be lower prices, better service, and increased use of private aviation. However, it will never be a serious threat to the airlines for mass-market transportation: the most optimistic projection of private aviation is that it will be 2% of the total air transport market by 2020.
Buffett is Right--Mega-Inflation is Coming

Buffett Sees Massive Inflation to Handle Staggering Debt | moneynews.newsmax.com
The worldwide economy is currently on life support, with plenty of evidence that deflation is a bigger risk than inflation. But a turnaround will come eventually, and when it does, it will be very rapid. The $800 billion stimulus that appears to be having a tepid effect right now will then become the gasoline thrown on the inflation fire. Like the patient given a wonder drug to combat a life-threatening disease, we'll be dealing with the chronic side effects for years to come. We'll have to be content that the side effects (inflation) are a lot more palatable than the disease (depression).
For Michael O'Leary, No Publicity is Bad Publicity
April 29, 2009
Ryanair boss: Swine flu is slum-dwellers' problem | www.businessweek.com
Michael O'Leary's real goal from his insensitive remarks is to gain publicity for himself and his company. He believes that no publicity is bad publicity. And it's working: traffic at Ryanair is growing right through the global recession. If a flu outbreak were to spread through Europe, the consequences to air traffic would be severe, and Mr. O'Leary's remarks would not stop the decline.
