GLGi: (Hong Kong) Life Insurance in China

Time & Location

Originally Presented: March 21, 2007

Presenter(s):

GLG Expert Contributor

Agenda:

    On Wednesday, March 21, 2007 Gerson Lehrman Group's Financial & Business Services (FBS) practice is pleased to host a luncheon roundtable in Hong Kong with Trevor Raper, Chief Executive Officer of Telos Capital & Risk Management, a firm focused on providing strategic and actuarial advice in relation to insurance activities in China. Mr. Raper will make a presentation focusing on investment opportunities in China’s life insurance market. Drawing on his extensive experience (see below) he will start by providing an overview of the shareholder wealth created by China’s listed insurers. He will then provide a brief overview of the role actuaries play in placing a value on life insurance companies, and explain some of the reasons why the Chinese market poses particularly difficult challenges to actuaries. However, his major focus will be to give a highly personal view of how the market is likely to develop and the opportunities for investors to profitably participate in that development.
